Every couple is unique. Some are playful and chatty, some are quieter, and some need a little time to settle in front of the camera. I’m here to match your vibe. That’s where I like to begin when we plan your maternity photos: with who you are and what feels comfortable for you.
This Inner West maternity session brought together street portraits, moments at home and time in the courtyard, photographed on digital and film. Sunglasses, a graphic tee, a patterned skirt, a bright red top. There’s so much personality in these photographs, and that’s what I love about them.
Taking Maternity Photos Into The Street
A leafy fence, a pale wall, a bicycle crossing the foreground. The everyday surroundings give these photographs their character. There’s room for the neighbourhood in the wider frames, then we come closer for a portrait or a moment together.
For me, maternity street photography is about noticing how you fit into a place. We can walk a little, pause somewhere interesting and let the setting become part of the photographs. If an Inner West street feels right for you, we can start there.
Every Couple Has Their Own Rhythm
You might love a bit of play in front of the camera. You might feel happiest tucked into your partner, with very little fuss. I’ll take my cues from you and offer direction when it helps, whether that’s something to do with your hands or a small change in where you’re standing.
We’ll talk about the feeling you want before the session. What you wear, where we go and how we spend the time can all follow from that. I want you to recognise yourselves in the photographs: your clothes, your closeness, your sense of humour.
Photographed On Digital And Film
I photographed this session on both digital and film. The film frames sit alongside the digital photographs, giving the collection a lovely change of texture and pace. There’s colour, there’s black and white, and there are different ways of seeing the same two people.
I like the mix across a whole story. A wider photograph lets you take in the setting; a closer one brings you back to an expression or a touch. Here, both formats have a place in that rhythm.
Home, The Courtyard And The Little Details
The street photographs are only part of this collection. There’s also time on the sofa, a playful moment in the living room and portraits among the courtyard plants. The dog makes an appearance, too.
I love having those small details alongside the portraits: limes on a branch, hands meeting beside a growing bump, a pause to stroke the dog. They help the collection feel personal. If you’d like your maternity session to include a little of home as well as the streets around you, we can talk through how that might work.
Let’s Find Your Vibe
If you’re thinking about maternity photos in Sydney’s Inner West, tell me a little about yourselves. Perhaps you already have a place in mind, or perhaps you just know how you’d like the photographs to feel. That’s plenty to start with.
You can explore my maternity sessions, have a look at packages and pricing, or get in touch and we’ll make a plan together. I’m here to match your vibe.
